FTP denotes File Transfer Protocol – a rather popular way to upload and download web files between a home computer and a web server. Using an FTP program such as FileZilla or CuteFTP, you can set up a connection to the server and check its content in one pane, while the files on your PC will be shown in another pane within the main program window. All you will have to do to send files or entire directories in either direction is to select them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. FTP is used by plenty of users because you can set up different FTP accounts and each of them can be limited to access just one single directory on the server, so a designer, for example, can fulfill their task without accessing any other content in your website hosting account. Also, the availability of different FTP accounts will also permit you to build numerous sites with web design applications such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage and to upload them to their respective folders on the server.

FTP Accounts in Shared Hosting

You will be able to create as many FTP accounts as you wish with each of the shared hosting offered by us, since we have decided not to restrict this functionality. In this way, you can manage multiple sites all at once or grant other people access to multiple folders. As soon as a certain job has been done and you do not want that individual to be able to access your web files anymore, you can update the password for the given FTP account or you can simply remove that account with a few clicks of the mouse and stop worrying about anybody connecting to it once again. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with all web hosting packages, will allow you to check the complete list of the existing FTP accounts shown in alphabetical order. It takes just one single click to manage different options for any of them – to change the password or the access path, to download an auto-config file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you host your sites in a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to create a separate FTP account for each of them, since we haven’t limited this service with any of our packages. You can do this via the FTP section of our easy-to-navigate Hepsia hosting Control Panel where you can also check the full list of all the FTP accounts that you’ve created, along with the folder that each one can connect to. If necessary, you’ll be able to modify the password for a given account or to modify its access path with several clicks. You can also remove an account without efforts if you don’t need it any longer – for example, if you have hired a web developer who is finished with the Internet site and you do not want them to access your website files any longer. For the sake of convenience, we have made different educational videos, which will help you manage your FTP accounts without effort if you’ve never used a hosting plan before.
